Dear Friends of TPRF,
The alarming casualties in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) from Cyclone Nargis continue to rise on a daily basis. With a grant of at least US $100,000, TPRF is partnering with Friends of the World Food Program (FWFP) to help the World Food Programme (WFP) bring immediate aid to the hundreds of thousands of survivors who have been stranded without food, shelter, or potable water.
On Friday, May 9, at 4:00 PM local time, WPF became one of the first agencies to be allowed to deliver aid directly to the people rather than through the government of Myanmar. WFP will be providing life-saving food assistance for 630,000 people for six months, until the next harvest in October/November.
